Compound Interest Calculator

Compound Interest & Savings A = P(1+r/n)^(nt)

Choose a single deposit with interest compounded into the principal, or add a fixed amount every month. The yearly table separates principal deposited, interest earned and the ending balance.

The calculator above computes compound interest, where the interest of each period is added to the principal and earns interest in the next period.

Formulas used

A = P(1 + r)ⁿ
A = P(1 + r/m)^(m·t)
  • m is the number of compounding periods per year and t the number of years.
  • The interest earned is A − P.

Worked example

Deposit 10,000 at 6% per year compounded yearly for 3 years:

A = 10,000 · 1.06³ ≈ 11,910.16

Enter the same values in the calculator above to see every step of the solution.
