Trigonometric Values Calculator (sin, cos, tan)

Trigonometric values and angle conversion sin, cos, tan, cot

Choose degrees or radians and enter a number or an expression with pi. The tool converts the unit, finds the signs on the unit circle and looks up the special-angle table.

The calculator above returns the sine, cosine, tangent, and cotangent of an angle and converts between degrees and radians, with exact values for special angles.

Formulas used

α(rad) = α(°) · π / 180
tan α = sin α / cos α, cot α = cos α / sin α
  • tan α is undefined when cos α = 0, for example α = 90°.
  • cot α is undefined when sin α = 0, for example α = 0° or 180°.

Worked example

For α = 60°:

sin 60° = √3/2, cos 60° = 1/2, tan 60° = √3

Enter the same values in the calculator above to see every step of the solution.
